Chemours is seeking a Product Regulatory Compliance Expert, EMEA to join our Product Sustainability team. This position will report directly to the EMEA Product Regulatory Compliance Manager, and be based in Europe at our Mechelen, Belgium or Neu-Isenburg, Germany site on a flex work schedule (on site/ telework) or remote (offered in Belgium, Germany and Spain).
As a Product Regulatory Compliance Expert, you will be part of a close-knit team of motivated and energetic professionals where you will contribute to Chemours’ success to ensure substances we offer in Europe comply with complex and evolving regulations and that our products are safe, legal and trusted. Product Sustainability in Chemours includes a broad group of competencies including Product Regulatory Compliance, Product Stewardship, Sustainable Offerings and Toxicology & Risk Assessment.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- As a key member of the Europe Product Sustainability Team, you will be responsible for well defined, specific aspects of the European compliance framework, primarily EU REACH, with the potential to cover other existing and emerging chemical regulations in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
- Collaborating with the global Product Sustainability Team and our different business unit partners to understand their present requirements and future needs, translate current and anticipated regulatory requirements, and develop, implement, and execute workplans to meet compliance requirements and business objectives.
- Responding to regulatory compliance inquiries from customers and internal partners.
- Performing periodic reviews and evaluations to validate compliance with applicable regulations.
- Monitoring, conducting impact assessments and communicating regulatory changes relevant to Chemours products to internal partners.
- Monitoring business activities to verify regulatory compliance deadlines and requirements, as well as business growth objectives, are met.
- Engaging with industry associations and consortia, regulatory agencies and other external stakeholders on regulatory topics.
- Overseeing or interfacing with external service providers.
- Contributing to the development of regulatory recommendations and supporting decision making by the business units and other internal partners.
- Creating and delivering training to business unit partners to increase their regulatory awareness.
- Participating in or leading projects to implement regulatory requirements, further sustainability objectives or drive process improvements, automation or other efficiencies.
The following is required for this role:
- Master’s degree in chemistry or related field.
- 5+ years of work experience in product regulatory compliance.
- Comprehensive knowledge of EU REACH regulations and practical implementation in the chemical industry.
- Ability to support a complex product portfolio for a global company.
- Excellent project planning and project management skills and experience with project management tools.
- Excellent communication skills with a variety of audiences.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with data management.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team across regions and time zones.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, drive for results, and ownership mentality.
- Excellent language skills in English and one other European language.
- Eligible to live and work in Belgium, Germany or Spain.
The following is preferred for this role:
- Experience with other chemical regulations in addition to EU REACH (e.g., Turkey KKDIK, UK REACH, etc.).
- Experience with SAP EHS.
- Experience with fluorinated chemistries.
- Interest in expanding responsibilities in the regulatory compliance field.
- Experience with AI tools.
