Job Summary

Reporting to the Director, Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and Health Economics, the Sr. Health Economic Modeller supports the development of strategic, evidence-based economic components (e.g., health economic and budget impact models and reports, and indirect treatment comparisons [ITC]) for submission to Canadian Health Technology Assessment (HTA) bodies and public/private payers.

The Sr. Health Economic Modeller will work cross-functionally with other PDCI team members, leading HTA submission projects, and providing technical leadership on the reimbursement submission components related to indirect evidence and health economics.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Leadership on HTA projects, indirectly leading project team members and working directly with clients to advise them on strategies to position their HTA submissions for success.
  • Leadership on the conception and development of strategic, evidence-based economic components of HTA submission projects including health economic models and reports for submission to Canadian HTA bodies and public/private payers.
  • Technical leadership on cost-effectiveness model build projects, including model design, build, and validation as well as ITC components.
  • Contribute to PDCI’s health economic thought leadership, ensuring PDCI is at the forefront of HE methodology, HTA processes and policy issues pertaining to the needs of our clients.
  • Monitor payer landscape and analyzes potential impacts or emerging trends.
  • Initiate, develop and nurture client relationships through consistently providing sound, trust-worthy information and advice and producing quality deliverables.
  • Mentor/coach staff in decision-analytic modelling and indirect treatment comparisons.
  • Participate in PDCI business development initiatives, including capabilities presentations, and/or attending industry events as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director, HTA and Health Economics.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., health services research, health economics, epidemiology, biostatistics).
  • 8+ years of experience in decision-analytic modeling, ITC development and HTA reimbursement submissions.

Key Competencies

  • Strong basis in fundamental statistical concepts and methods (i.e., Bayesian statistics), and techniques such as development of meta-analysis, indirect comparisons, network meta-analysis, predictive equations, survival analysis (including parametric methods), longitudinal data analysis, and other hierarchical analysis techniques, etc.
  • Practical experience in the application of statistics in health technology appraisal, health economics, outcomes research or clinical data analysis.
  • Proficiency in R.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with programming cost-utility models in Microsoft Excel including Visual Basic for Applications.
  • Ability to synthesize, interpret, and communicate economic data, and perform quality assurance checks on economic models and reports.
  • Knowledge and understanding of HTA process, private and public payer markets, their drug review processes and reimbursement trends affecting market access.
  • Quality and efficiency: excellent analytical and organizational skills with a superior attention to detail.
  • Effective team player.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, projects and deadlines.
  • Superior communication skills, strategic and critical thinking, and a strong ability to convey technical and scientific information.
  • Fluency in English is essential for the position with fluency in French an asset, but not essential.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKessons pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. $86,600 - $144,300
