As the Vice President, General Manager of Wholesale at Madison Reed, you will oversee and optimize the entire Wholesale PnL and overall relationships, including but not limited to Ulta Beauty, Walmart, Target, Sally Beauty and any future partnerships. You have a passion for product and the beauty industry. You are comfortable with regular interaction with the C-Suite team and are a strategic thought partner to the Chief Product Officer.  You love building strategic sales plans and exceeding expectations.  You build strong relationships with both internal and external partners and can successfully juggle working with multiple cross-functional departments within an organization including Marketing, Product Development/Merchandising, Finance, Supply Chain, and more.  You are rooted with fact based analysis and are able to balance having strong business/financial acumen with finding creative, innovative solutions.  You are motivated and resourceful with strong negotiation skills.  You have an elevated taste level/aesthetic with the ability to execute and bring to life a successful brand story in an omni-channel beauty retail space.  

Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, you will lead a team of Wholesale Managers that are responsible for strategic partnerships with key retailers.  This is a high-visibility role for a strategic leader who can balance visionary thinking with results-driven execution. Your ability to drive and exceed sales and continue to grow profitability, will be critical to scaling revenue in line with Madison Reed’s growth trajectory.

The position is full time and remote, with up to 25% travel from home including but not limited to retailer visits, store manager shows, industry events, team meetings, Quarterly Business meetings, & company-sponsored events.

The base salary range for this position is between 190,000 and 200,000 plus bonus eligibility. At Madison Reed, we aim to pay competitively. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Responsibilities:

Financial Ownership & Oversight:

  • Full fiscal responsibility across all Retail partners, including P&L and budgetary ownership
  • Deliver retail sales, revenue and profit to agreed targets
  • Partner with relevant cross functional teams on the development and alignment of joint sales plans, monitoring weekly, monthly and quarterly receipts to ensure that inventory is optimized, and targets are met / exceeded.  Provide synopsis to Senior Leadership as well as recommendations for actions that are aligned with business objectives
  • Responsible for creating and revising short and long term growth strategies for total Wholesale and communicating regularly to the company with status updates/changes .

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and nurture relationships with key retailers’ senior management and leverage as needed.  Primary contact for Retailers’ merchant teams
  • Critically strategizes and anticipates needs of the business, across Retailers, and develops impactful activation and promotional strategies to drive POS sales and corresponding revenue
  • Lead the creation and execution of marketing strategies including go to market launch plans for all new products, promotional calendars, store events, and the tracking on ROI
  • Demonstrate nimbleness to create new strategies / revised strategies to achieve financial goals when current strategies/goals are not being met.     
  • Partnership with internal cross functional partners is a must. Departments include planning, supply chain, finance, marketing, visual merchandising, creative and PR.
  • Partner with Product Development/Merchandising for optimal product assortments with high sales productivity at each channel, develop exclusive products when applicable for key partnerships.
  • Collaborate closely with Visual Merchandising on the creation of impactful planograms, secondary placements, strategic fixture development and store visuals. Advocate for additional space and dropping of un-productive products as needed.  
  • Oversee and partner with Education Teams to create channel specific education materials such as video tutorials, nation-wide conferences for Field Leaders and training.
  • Partner with the Digital Product Team to ensure we are constantly improving our wholesale technology tools and usage.
  • Partner with the Digital Marketing team to ensure we are exhausting all digital marketing tactics specific to each wholesale partner with our goal of attracting new and repeat customers.  
  • Grow Brand’s visibility and penetration on Retailers’ dot-com businesses - focused on bringing Madison Reed’s digital knowledge to life with retail partners
  • Visit locations, as needed, to ensure appropriate execution and representation of Madison Reed brand and to monitor competitive activity on a regular basis.

Team Development:

  • Build and lead a high-performing wholesale team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and develop team members, ensuring they have the skills and capabilities to meet current and future business needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; 15+ years of progressive experience, including sales leadership roles in the beauty, cosmetics, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry.
  • Proven track record of creating sales strategy and consistently achieving/exceeding sales plan and revenue growth in an omni-channel business model
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and demonstrated ability to create winning partnerships with retailer management.
  • Excellent business insights with demonstrated experience in analysis of retailer data, POG productivity, and marketing promotion and go to market strategy management.  
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and inspire teams across all levels of the organization.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.  Creative thinker and strong decision maker.
