These systems are used by all teams at Life360 and have tremendous impact on the overall operations of the product. Some of the maintained and owned services are the highest throughput in the company offering unique scaling challenges and opportunities.</p> <h3>About the Job</h3> <p>As a<strong> Senior Backend Software Developer, Data and Platforms</strong>, you’ll be working closely with some of our most senior engineers, including Staff, <strong>on Java, GO and PHP technologies</strong> to enhance and extend our systems as well as building the next generation of high-frequency sensor data ingest by utilizing Java, GO, Kafka and Kafka Connect. Not only will you be building services, but you will have the opportunity to manage their deployment as well.</p> <p><em><strong>For candidates based in the US, the salary range for this position is $123,000-$180,500 USD. For candidates based out of Canada, the salary range for this position is $171,500-$201,000 CAD. We take into consideration an individuals background and experience in determining final salary - therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity.</strong></em></p> <h3>What You’ll Do</h3> <ul> <li>Building the next generation of high-frequency sensor data ingest utilizing Java, GO and Kafka</li> <li>Enhancing our existing authorization and authentication systems which utilize JWTs</li> <li>Monitor health, suggest/drive improvements for, and deploy your own services</li> <li>Work cross-functionally across teams to gain alignment on team initiatives</li> <li>Maintain and improve service level objectives (SLOs)</li> <li>Collaborate closely with Senior and Staff engineers to build technical specs </li> <li>Automate deployment of services and component validation with testing suites</li> </ul> <h3>What We’re Looking For</h3> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, related field or equivalent practical experience</li> <li>Minimum 3+ years experience with Java/Spring Boot</li> <li>2+ years experience with relational or non-relational databases such as MySQL, Apache Pinot, Postgres, DynamoDB, MongoDB</li> <li>Experience deploying and maintaining systems, ideally with Kubernetes</li> <li>Understands microservices and their architectures</li> <li>Communicates effectively with cross-platform teammates</li> </ul> <h3>Preferred Qualifications </h3> <ul> <li>4+ years experience with Java (bonus for Spring Framework experience)</li> <li>Experience with queuing/streaming technologies such as NSQ and Kafka</li> <li>Experience with JWTs and public-key encryption</li> <li>Adaptive to working across programming languages regularly </li> <li>Experience working remotely with minimal guidance</li> <li>Experience working with AWS products </li> <li>Experience with Docker and Kubernetes</li> </ul> <h3>Our Benefits</h3> <ul> <li>Competitive pay and benefits.</li> <li>Medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance plans (100% paid for US employees).
