Senior Software Engineer I, Backend, Permissions Team

$236k - $236k

RemoteUSNorth AmericaAmericas

We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a team working on a high-impact mission within the Permissions team at HubSpot. The Permissions team is responsible for building HubSpot’s next generation permissions framework. The flexibility of permissions is a top concern for HubSpot customers today. Additionally, the current system requires every team to consider permissions for new feature launches or even small changes, creating overhead on the entire engineering team. The Permissions team is challenged with building a system that will handle the flexibility needs of our most advanced customers, improving comprehensibility so even our smallest customers understand how to limit access, and eliminating as much overhead on other engineering teams as possible.

You would join a talented set of teams comprising both frontend and backend teams and work with highly effective Product Management and User Experience teams. The team has direct customer impact as well as deep technical problems.

As a Senior Engineer on the Permissions team at HubSpot, you’ll do many things— and you likely already have experience doing some of them in the past.

We are looking for people who:

  • Embody our engineering team values
  • Demonstrate pragmatic decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Have a passion for bringing simplicity to complex systems.
  • Dive into concepts they may be unfamiliar with.
  • Are passionate about delivering exceptional experiences to our customers.
  • Take ownership, work collaboratively, and figure things out.
  • Analyze trade-offs with empathy, while building creative solutions.

What you’ll need:

  • Experience with Java
  • Experience developing and maintaining scalable backend systems
  • Comfortable in performing effective code reviews for your peers
  • Like the idea of working on a small, customer-driven development team of 3-5 engineers.

Cash compensation range: 157600-236400 USD Annually

The cash compensation above includes base salary, on-target commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets under HubSpot’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, some roles are eligible to participate in HubSpot’s equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs). Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are based on a few different factors unique to each candidate, including their skills, experience, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

We know that benefits are also an important piece of your total compensation package. To learn more about what’s included in total compensation, check out some of the benefits and perks HubSpot offers to help employees grow better.

At HubSpot, fair compensation practices isn’t just about checking off the box for legal compliance. It’s about living out our value of transparency with our employees, candidates, and community.

We know the confidence gap and imposter syndrome can get in the way of meeting spectacular candidates, so please don’t hesitate to apply — we’d love to hear from you.
