IBS is a hosted core processing system easily scalable to meet the needs of banks from $500M to $50B in assets.As a Cobol Software Engineer you will develop core versions of software applications for sale to external clients. Cobol Programmers work closely with Customers, Business Analysts, Scrum Master, Product Owner, and team members to understand business requirements and drive research analysis, and design, to deliver of quality technical solutions ensuring alignment with business and IT strategies and complying with FIS architectural standards.What you will be doing:<ul><li>Cobol programmers analyze, design, program, debug, and modifies software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked or Internet-related computer programs. (Code must be used in core version of applications available for sale commercially.)</li><li>Ideally work with the Integrated Banking System (IBS), specifically Deposits, Customer Information Systems (CIS) and Bank Control.</li><li>Interacts with product managers and/or users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.</li><li>Participates in software design meetings and analyzes user needs to determine technical requirements.</li><li>Write technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements.</li><li>Writes code, completes programming, and performs testing and debugging of applications using current programming languages and technologies.</li><li>Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.</li><li>Performs peer reviews and consults with software test analysts.</li><li>Trains and communicates with internal Client Training, Client Relationship and Sales teams on systems application.</li><li>May be responsible for developing or executing project plans, and documenting work and results.</li><li>May deliver informational and decision-seeking presentations to technical and business groups to internal and/or external audiences.</li><li>Works with developers in US and non-US time zones to assist and learn specific client projects with the potential for the need to work client time zones as needed.</li><li>Other related duties assigned as needed.</li></ul>What you will need:<ul><li>Experience using COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, IMS DB, IMS HALDB, JCL, VSAM, and TSO ISPF; 5+ years of experience in IBM mainframe technologies.</li><li>Experience on the Tools like INSYNC, XPEDITER, DUMP-M and CONTROL-M.</li><li>Knowledge of end-to-end systems development life cycles, e.g., waterfall, iterative and other modern approaches to software development.</li><li>Knowledge of standards relevant to the software industry , e.g., ISO, CMM, Six Sigma.</li><li>Knowledge of banking practices, regulations, and operations within assigned line(s) of business.</li><li>In-depth understanding of design patterns and their application.</li><li>Fluency in developing and understanding sequence diagrams, class models, etc.</li><li>Proficiency in solutions design and requirements definition disciplines leveraging model driven design-based tools and techniques including conceptual solution component models, business process models, use cases, etc.</li><li>Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization, e.g., executive, management, individual contributors.</li></ul>Added Bonus if you have:<ul><li>Knowledge of financial services industry.</li><li>Knowledge of FIS products and services; in-depth knowledge of products and services in assigned line(s) of business.</li></ul>What we offer you: A career at FIS is more than just a job. The pay range for this full-time position is $125,850.00 - $211,410.00 and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Any changes in work location will also impact actual individual starting pay.
