Change.org is searching for a Chief of Staff to the CEO (VP level) to serve as a force-multiplier for our founder/CEO, Ben Rattray, by developing and executing on the operating system of the Executive office: translating strategy into action, ensuring strong communication and alignment across the organization, and helping to drive operational excellence, focus, and follow-through on the company’s most important priorities.  It’s a unique time to join Change.org. And we will soon be launching an entirely new platform to identify the &gt;80% of issues that most people agree on, locally and nationally, and to mobilize hundreds of millions of people to advocate for those common-ground solutions.  To realize this vision, we’re expanding the most talented team in the world at the intersection of technology and social impact - all focused every day on building healthier democracies globally.  Key Outcomes: <ul> <li>Act as a trusted extension of the CEO, making informed decisions, resolving blockers, and maintaining momentum across multiple workstreams when he’s unavailable.</li> <li>Operationalize strategy, translate high-level goals into clear plans, processes, and communications for internal and external audiences.</li> <li>Establish and maintain a clear operating rhythm for the CEO and executive team, ensuring prioritization, prep, and follow-through are consistent and effective.</li> <li>Lead board and executive preparation, synthesize materials, ensure alignment, and strengthen the quality and clarity of communications.</li> <li>Ensure structure and accountability in company operations by strengthening coordination and communication across the executive team.</li> <li>Build trusted relationships across the organization, serving as an ambassador of the CEO and the leadership team.</li> </ul> The most important core competencies for the role are:  <ul> <li>Operational Leadership &amp; Execution: Designs and runs the systems and processes that keep the CEO’s office and exec team focused and excellently executing.</li> <li>Executive Communication &amp; Influence: Excellent writer and communicator; skilled at distilling complexity into clarity for internal and external audiences - including Board and funders.</li> <li>Strategic Thinking &amp; Judgment: Understands company priorities and can connect short-term execution to long-term goals; exercises sound judgment in situations with multiple, complex considerations.</li> <li>Relationship Building &amp; Cross-Functional Collaboration: Earns credibility quickly; able to build strong relationships with senior staff across all departments and foster alignment across teams.</li> </ul> Target experience: <ul> <li>7–10+ years in operational, strategy, or executive leadership roles within a fast-paced organization.</li> <li>Prior experience as a Chief of Staff, Head of Operations, Product leader, or Strategy/Execution lead preferred.</li> <li>Demonstrated success supporting or partnering directly with a CEO and/or other senior executives, driving operational clarity and communications excellence.</li> <li>Background in consulting or strategic planning is a plus, but must be paired with hands-on execution experience.</li> <li>Proven ability to bring order and communication discipline to complex, dynamic environments.</li> </ul> Interested? All of our salaries are determined before we launch a role – they are based on a predetermined salary scale, the level on that scale and the cost of labor for that location.
